Starting QB For New England Patriots 2024: Odds of Patriots’ Week 1 Starter
Fact Checked by Michael Peters

It’s a new day and a new era for the New England Patriots in 2024, with future Hall of Fame coach Bill Belichick out the door and former Pro Bowl linebacker Jerod Mayo taking over as a first-time head coach this fall.

Throw in the likelihood New England will have a new face under center — with last year’s starters Mac Jones (traded to Jacksonville) and Bailey Zappe combining for an approximate value of 5 in 2023 and the Pats drafting UNC QB Drake Maye with the third overall pick in the NFL Draft.

To get you ready for serious Massachusetts sports betting in the fall, BetMassachusetts.com broke down which QB will be the No. 1 choice for Mayo come Week 1 of the NFL season.

Who is the Next Man Up in 2024?

Right now, the top options for New England when it comes to quarterbacks are to either roll the dice on Drake Maye, or ride with veterans Jacoby Brissett (signed in free agency) or Bailey Zappe, who has more interceptions (12) than passing touchdowns (11) in two limited seasons.

That means that Maye has decent odds of stepping right in and starting in Week 1, with the former Tar Heel Maye being our top candidate to be the team’s starter in Week 1 at -200.

BetMGM Massachusetts lists San Francisco as the Super Bowl favorite at +500, followed by back-to-back champion Kansas City at +650. New England is at +15000, tied with four other teams for the second worst odds in the NFL.
