New England’s injury list grew again after the loss to the Bears. Guard Alijah Vera-Tucker (hamstring) was placed on injured reserve on Oct. 22, and the Patriots elevated offensive lineman Xavier Newman-Johnson and linebacker Benton Whitley from the practice squad. Wide receiver Romeo Doubs landed on the list on Oct. 19 with a shoulder injury suffered against the Jets, joining fullback Reggie Gilliam and wide receiver Mack Hollins, who went on injured reserve on Oct. 10. A.J. Brown was activated on Oct. 17 after a high-ankle sprain in Week 1 and returned in Week 6. Also on injured reserve are offensive linemen Mike Onwenu and Greg Van Roten, tight end Julian Hill, punter Bryce Baringer, linebackers Khalil Jacobs and Quintayvious Hutchins, safety Dell Pettus, tackle Marcus Bryant and wide receiver Jeremiah Webb.
Week 8 Injury Outlook
The first Week 8 injury report is due Wednesday, so official designations for the Dolphins game are not out yet. Heading into the loss at Chicago, cornerbacks Carlton Davis III (neck), Karon Prunty (hamstring) and Channing Canada (hamstring) and center Ben Brown (knee) were all ruled out. Tackle Morgan Moses (foot), safeties Kevin Byard (chest) and Craig Woodson (shoulder) and linebacker Christian Elliss (chest) were listed questionable. Designations can change before Sunday’s game in Miami.
If these injuries continue to pile up, the Patriots Super Bowl odds could fluctuate.
