The Patriots playoff chances look good again this season, but the path is harder than it was a year ago. New England opens on the road at Seattle on Wednesday, September 9, in a Super Bowl LX rematch, plays a neutral-site game against the Lions in Munich in Week 10 and draws five primetime assignments. Road trips to Buffalo, Kansas City and the Chargers sit on the schedule as well, and the bye does not arrive until Week 11.
The roster got help. New England traded a 2028 first-round pick and a 2027 fifth-rounder to Philadelphia for WR A.J. Brown, signed WR Romeo Doubs and G Alijah Vera-Tucker in free agency and drafted Utah OT Caleb Lomu at No. 28. On defense, Zak Kuhr takes over as coordinator, with edge rusher Dre’Mont Jones and safety Kevin Byard III added in free agency and Illinois edge rusher Gabe Jacas drafted in the second round.
Mike Vrabel enters year two off an AP Coach of the Year season, and Drake Maye is coming off an MVP-finalist campaign that included a Pro Bowl nod, second-team All-Pro honors and FedEx Air Player of the Year.
