A.J. Brown Injury Timeline

Brown suffered the injury in the third quarter of New England's season opener when Seahawks cornerback Nehemiah Pritchett landed on his ankle while defending a pass. Brown finished with three catches for 26 yards and drew a 34-yard pass interference penalty before leaving the game. An MRI confirmed the high-ankle sprain, and the Patriots placed Brown on injured reserve. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that Brown is expected to miss six weeks and will not require surgery.

Brown must miss at least four games because of the IR designation, making Week 6 the earliest possible return. His reported six-week recovery timeline would keep him sidelined beyond that point.

Other Patriots Injuries

New England also has tight end Julian Hill, punter Bryce Baringer, linebacker Khalil Jacobs and tackle Marcus Bryant on injured reserve. Bryant has a designation to return, while Hill, Baringer and Jacobs remain on IR.

Defensive tackle Isaiah Iton was waived with an injury designation on Sept. 9 and subsequently reached an injury settlement with the team.
