How Many Super Bowls Have the Patriots Won?

The New England Patriots have won six Super Bowls, tied with the Pittsburgh Steelers for the most in NFL history. That puts them ahead of the 49ers (5), Cowboys (5), Packers (4), and every other team in the league.

Four of those six titles came with Tom Brady winning Super Bowl MVP. The Patriots' first three championships, won in the 2001, 2003 and 2004 seasons, were each decided by three points. Adam Vinatieri kicked game-winning field goals to beat the Rams in Super Bowl XXXVI and the Panthers in Super Bowl XXXVIII. The third win in that stretch came over the Eagles in Super Bowl XXXIX.

After a 10-year title drought, New England returned to the top with a dramatic win over the Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX, sealed by Malcolm Butler’s unforgettable goal-line interception. The Patriots followed that with an iconic comeback in Super Bowl LI, erasing a 28-3 deficit to beat the Falcons 34-28 in overtime. Then, in Super Bowl LIII, they held the Rams without a touchdown in a 13-3 defensive slugfest.

New England has also lost six Super Bowls. The Patriots fell to the Bears in Super Bowl XX, the Packers in Super Bowl XXXI, the Giants in both Super Bowl XLII and Super Bowl XLVI, the Eagles in Super Bowl LII, and the Seahawks in Super Bowl LX.
