Massachusetts Sportsbooks Set June Betting Record at $615 Million

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission reported that bettors wagered a record $615.1 million on sports in June, the highest total ever recorded for the month in the state. Massachusetts sports betting has now topped $600 million for 10 consecutive months, according to the commission's figures. The commission has published monthly revenue reports since February 2023, the first full month of legal sports wagering in the state.

Revenue Dips Despite Record Handle

MA sportsbook apps posted a 9.1% hold in June, the second single-digit hold of 2026. According to the MGC, the hold resulted in $55.8 million in total gross revenue, a 12% decrease from June of last year.

Online Operators Carry the Load

Online platforms accounted for 98.7% of the state's sports betting revenue in June, bringing in $55.1 million. Several apps posted single-digit holds for the month, with only two operators reaching double digits. 

DraftKings Sportsbook MA led the market with a $302 million handle and $27.4 million in revenue. FanDuel reported a $154.6 million handle and $15 million in revenue. Fanatics Sportsbook took in $65.9 million in wagers and $3.9 million in revenue. 

BetMGM MA Sportsbook produced $4.8 million in revenue on a $48 million handle. Caesars posted the highest online hold at 11.2%, generating $2 million in revenue on an $18.1 million handle. theScore Bet reported $1.5 million in revenue on a $16.5 million handle, and Bally Bet reported about $419,000 in revenue on a $3.8 million handle. The June report included results from all licensed online and retail sportsbook operators in the state.

Retail Sportsbooks and Tax Revenue

The state's three retail sportsbooks combined for an 11.6% hold on a $6.2 million handle. Plainridge Park Casino led that group with a 15.1% win rate. Operators paid $10.8 million in taxes on $54.3 million in taxable revenue under the state's 20% tax rate, bringing Massachusetts' total tax collections to more than $85 million so far this year.
