Season Series Starts This Weekend

Pending the current air quality situation in the New York metropolitan area, the biggest rivalry in Major League Baseball renews Friday night as the Boston Red Sox (31-31) visit the New York Yankees (36-26) for a three-game series.

Both teams are scheduled to play Thursday. Boston is in Cleveland. The Yankees will play two at home vs. the Chicago White Sox after Wednesday's game was canceled due to air quality conditions.

The Red Sox reside in last place in the brutally tough AL East, 13 games behind the first-place Tampa Bay Rays. The Yankees are in third place, eight games back.

Since 2019, the Yankees have had the better overall season record and have won three of the last four series against Boston, including a 13-6 mark last season. Boston edged New York, 10-9, in 2021.

During the four-year span, the Yankees have recorded a 45-22 record against their arch-nemesis.
