What the New Platform Offers

Mass Lottery Online lets players 21 and older buy online lottery tickets for games including Mega Millions, Powerball, Mass Cash, Megabucks, and Millionaire for Life, along with eInstant games similar to digital scratch tickets. Two new daily draw games, Mass 3 with Wicked Bonus and Mass 4 with Wicked Bonus, also launched on the platform. Traditional Keno, The Numbers Game, and The Wheel of Luck remain retail only.

Players register through masslottery.com or the Lottery's mobile app and must complete identity verification. Wagers on eInstant games range from 50 cents to $50, and the platform does not accept credit cards, relying instead on debit cards, bank transfers, PayPal, and Apple Pay. The Lottery has said it plans to add new eInstant games every two weeks and later introduce virtual horse racing wagering.

How It Fits Into the State's Gambling Market

The lottery becomes the second form of online gambling regulated in in the state. Massachusetts sports betting has been legal in the state since January 31, 2023. Online casinos in Massachusetts remain unauthorized. A bill that would have legalized them, H.4431 was sent to study by the Joint Committee on Economic Development and Emerging Technologies on March 17, 2026.

Where the Money Goes

Goldberg said lottery profits, including those from the new online platform, support a grant program for early childhood education and care. The Lottery Commission also built responsible gambling tools into the platform, including deposit and spending limits, timed break reminders, and a voluntary self-exclusion program. The Massachusetts Problem Gambling Helpline is available at 800-327-5050.
