Are The Patriots Still Among The Most Confident NFL Fans?
Fact Checked by Thomas Leary

As the top sport in America, each NFL team certainly has a dedicated fanbase who follow their journey throughout the season. However, every team has its ups and downs, but which fanbases are the most and least confident that their team will come out victorious?

The team at BetMassachusetts decided to take a break from reviewing Massachusetts sportsbooks and surveyed 2,000 NFL fans of all ages and genders.

So, if you’re wondering where Massachusetts’ own New England Patriots or another team’s fanbase ranks, keep on reading!

The Most Confident Fanbases In The NFL

Coming out on top after achieving an impressive confidence score of 7.68 are fans of the San Francisco 49ers.

Whilst they might not have made it all the way to the Super Bowl, the team did have a strong 2022 season, winning 10 games in a row, including their last 5 regular season contents behind Mr. Irrelevant Brock Purdy, which likely instilled plenty of gusto in the 49er faithful.

At BetMGM Massachusetts, the 49ers are tied with the Bengals and Eagles (+900) for the third best odds to win the Super Bowl next year. Stick with BetMass for a BetMGM Massachusetts bonus code ahead of the NFL season as well.

Of course, life is good with Patrick Mahomes as your quarterback and Andy Reid as your head coach. So second place goes to the Kansas City Chiefs fanbase who scored 7.34. Confidence from fans is likely at an all-time high after the win in the Super Bowl LVII over Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles.

Tennessee Titans fans somewhat surprisingly take the third spot thanks to a confidence score of 7.33. Seeing the Titans fans so high up in the rankings might surprise some given that they ended the 2022 season on a seven-game losing streak and failed to make the playoffs. Perhaps this is a sign of overconfidence in an often lowly AFC South. With the NFL Draft now over, be sure to monitor Massachusetts betting promos throughout the offseason.

Patriots Fans are the Seventh Most Confident

Just missing out on a spot in the Top 5 are fans of the New England Patriots after a score of 6.96 landed them at No. 7. This score may have been higher in past years, but as of late, the Patriots playoff chances haven't been in their favor.

Looking at the Patriots 2022 season, unfortunately, the team didn’t manage to qualify for the playoffs, which impacted confidence levels from fans. This was especially disappointing as they had a solid 2021 season where they made the playoffs with a rookie quarterback in Mac Jones, so expectations were high going into 2022.

But Jones regressed without offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels. Can new play-caller Bill O'Brien restore some of that Patriots confidence this season? Time will tell, but based on their top 10 ranking, don't think Pats fans have forgotten about those six Lombardi Trophies with Tom Brady.

Over at Caesars Sportsbook Massachusetts, the Pats have the worst odds to win the AFC East at +1000, behind the Bills (+135), the Aaron Rodgers-led Jets (+200) and Dolphins (+320).

The Least Confident NFL Fanbases in the NFL

So, we know which NFL teams have fans backing them all the way, but what about those where fans have come to peace and wouldn’t feel overly shocked or let down watching their team lose?

The title of the least confident fanbase goes to supporters of the Cleveland Browns after scoring 6.16. After failing to qualify for the playoffs in both 2022 and 2021, this has seemed to have an impact on confidence levels with fans not overly shocked to see them lose.

Not far behind and securing the second spot with a score of 6.23 are fans of the New York Jets. The confidence from fans was likely knocked after watching their team start 7-4 and then seeing this slip away after losing six games in a row and ultimately missing out on the playoffs. The immaturity of Zach Wilson was on full display last season, but let's see how confident Jets fans are this year with Aaron Rodgers.

Rounding out the top three are Houston Texan fans with a confidence score of just 6.34. For the 2022 season, things just didn’t go to plan for the Texans, who had their worst start since 2005. What’s more, this marked the third year in a row that the Texans became the first team eliminated from playoff contention.

Methodology

BetMassachusetts.com conducted a survey of 2,000 NFL fans of all ages and genders with an equal split for each team to reveal which fans are the most and least confident going into gameday. This was done by asking two questions:

1. How shocked do you feel when your team loses?
2. How let down do you feel when your team loses?

Respondents provided a score between 1-10 for each question, where 1 = not shocked/let down and 10 = extremely shocked/let down.
