BetMassachusetts.com used Pro-Football-Reference.com to pull the data of all past ‘Mr. Irrelevant’ draft picks since 2000 to see what potential the Patriots’ 2025 draft pick Kobee Minor has. We found the average AV of all last draft picks since 2000 and pulled the top performers from this timeframe.

While being the last pick in the seven-round NFL Draft comes with its share of emotional baggage, that’s not to say that going last is a career death sentence, as several final picks in the event have gone on to play long careers in the league.
Last year’s final pick (Jaylen Key) did not appear in any of the New York Jets games in 2024, but the same cannot be said of the previous final picks like Desjuan Johnson of the Los Angeles Rams, who has 3.0 sacks and a forced fumble with a approximate value of 2 in 21 NFL games out of Toledo.
The final pick three draft cycles ago has also gone on to put together a solid career as a starter at the game’s most important position, with Brock Purdy of the San Francisco 49ers posting 37 AV in 50 games played, throwing for 9,518 yards and 63 touchdowns to date.
Year | Athlete | AV |
2009 | Ryan Succop | 38 |
2022 | Brock Purdy | 37 |
2000 | Michael Green | 24 |
2020 | Tae Crowder | 17 |
2008 | David Vobora | 8 |
2021 | Grant Stuard | 6 |
2023 | Desjuan Johnson | 2 |
2018 | Trey Quinn | 2 |
2007 | Ramzee Robinson | 1 |
Overall, the early performance of 2022 ‘Mr. Irrelevant’ Brock Purdy has him second all-time when it comes to career AV totals from the players taken last in the draft, sitting behind kicker Ryan Succop, who racked up 38 AV across 216 games played with the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers between 2009 and 2022.
Behind Succop and Purdy, other success stories from that final draft position include Michael Green, who had 24 AV across 104 games played out of Northwestern State with the Chicago Bears, Seattle Seahawks and Washington Commanders between 2000 and 2008 after going 254th overall.
Throw in Giants linebacker Tae Crowder (17 AV in 43 games played), David Vobora (8 AV in 40 games played) and Grant Stuard (6 AV in 66 games played) and you have the ‘Mr. Irrelevant’ leaderboard covered, giving Minor some solid players to compare himself to as he looks to make the Patriots’ 53-man roster this fall.
