The New England Patriots pick fourth in the first round of the NFL Draft and such a high selection gives them a chance to pick someone who could instantly turn a weakness into a strength.
The franchise has several pressing needs to regain competitiveness and improve New England Patriots odds for 2025. But as the Philadelphia Eagles demonstrated with their Super Bowl win, games and championships are won in the trenches. New England must give quarterback Drake Maye better protection. Initially, many saw LSU offensive tackle Will Campbell as an ideal pick.

The Patriots, once considered a lock to pick him, will now likely look to fill other needs with the fourth pick overall. NFL.comās Daniel Jeremiah has New England now picking two-way Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter. The draft analyst now has the Chicago Bears taking Campbell with the 10th pick.
ESPNās draft guru Mel Kiper also has the Pats getting Hunter. He has Campbell falling all the way down to No. 13, where the Miami Dolphins have the selection.
Campbell could continue to see his draft stock tumble as the draft is still more than a month away. The Cincinnati Bengals pick 17th overall and have a need for a lineman to protect quarterback Joe Burrow. While Cincyās tackles appear to be set, Campbellās size would make him an ideal guard.

Thatās despite completing 342 passes last season, 22nd overall in the league. That said, if a player like Travis Hunter is available with the fourth pick, it will be hard for the Patriots not to take him, especially if questions arise regarding Campbell. Offensive lineman will also be available in the second and third round. New coach Mike Vrable could address that need with a second-day pick.
