Matthew Judon Trade Odds: Will The Patriots Trade Judon?

Fact Checked by Thomas Leary

There aren’t a lot of ways that do a better job of getting your point across than firing off a tweet that only includes a GIF, with New England Patriots veteran defensive end Matthew Judon using that tactic this week.

That’s because the four-time Pro Bowl pass rusher made waves on July 3, firing off a tweet with SpongeBob SquarePants saying ‘Right Imma Head Out’ with no caption, making it seemingly clear that his time in Foxborough is running thin.

After that cryptic July 3 tweet, rumors are swirling across Massachusetts sports betting about a pending trade for the player. wanted to see if Judon would be traded, and created hypothetical odds to predict which team would pick him up.

Where Will Judon Go Next?

With NFL teams needing a good pass rusher now more than ever, given the pass-first nature of today’s pro game, it seems likely that a defensive star of Judon’s caliber will be snapped up before long.

With the 31-year-old entering the final season of the four-year, $65 million deal he inked with New England in 2021, now could be the time for Pats GM Eliot Wolf to make a move, especially given the fact that the franchise will likely miss the playoffs in Year One of the Jerod Mayo era this fall.

That’s why we put playoff contenders like the Seattle Seahawks (+500), Atlanta Falcons (+550) and Detroit Lions (+600) among our favorites to land Judon in a trade, while rebuilding franchises like the Chicago Bears (+550) are in the mix as well.

The odds that Judon stays with New England are pretty slim, with the Patriots listed at +1450 to keep him in 2024, while the field clocks in at +215, though we’ll know more as training camp arrives later this month.

Regardless, one NFL team is about to land a player that’s accumulated an approximate value of 63 in 114 NFL games, as Judon hopes to take his talents to a franchise with legitimate postseason aspirations.

Sadly, for New England, that doesn’t seem to be the case for the Pats’ in 2024, with oddsmakers from Bet365 giving the franchise +950 odds of making the playoffs this year, compared to -290 for the Lions, -240 for Atlanta, -115 for Chicago and +175 for Seattle.
