Modelo Earns Top Spot

The No. 2 beer brand in the United States, Modelo, is the top beer in the Commonwealth with a Google Trends search interest score of 33, 19 points more than No. 2 Bud Light (14).

Founded in 1925 in Tacuba, Mexico, Modelo has several varieties of beer featuring their signature Modelo Especial, Modelo Negra and Modelo Cheladas. All Modelo beer brands are exclusively brewed, imported and marketed for the U.S. by New York-based Constellation Brands.

Another Mexican beer Corona (9), which is also made by Grupo Modelo of Mexico City, rounds out the top three. Coors Light (7) and Michelob (6) round out the top five. Bud Light and Michelob are both brewed by St. Louis-based Anheuser Busch.

According to WalletHub’s March Madness Stats & Facts from 2023, there was a 19% increase in beer sales during March Madness, college basketball's signature event — and a signature event for Masschusetts sports betting apps. Have fun cheering on your favorite team and drink responsibly!
