Most Popular Candle Scents in Massachusetts

Fact Checked by Michael Peters

With the long Thanksgiving weekend having just concluded, people across the Commonwealth are gearing up and getting ready for the month of December. Between daily routines of life and work — preparing for upcoming shopping excursions, parties, dinners, and social holiday outings — there is not a better month to set some time for yourself with peace and tranquility, surrounded by your favorite fragrance of the season.

BetMassachusetts.com took a break from Massachusetts sports betting and utilized Statista data on the most popular candle scents worldwide as a starting point. We then used Google Trends to determine the most searched scent in each state. After completing the trends over the past five years (Nov. 2018 to Nov. 2023), we were able to determine the top 3 candle scents for each state to celebrate Candle Day on Dec 2.

Nothing Plain About Vanilla

Out of 26 states, 16 states chose the rather soothing flavor of vanilla as their No. 1 candle scent including Massachusetts. That kind of percentage would make for a pretty safe wager on Massachusetts betting apps.

Pumpkin, more associated with the autumn months of October (Halloween) and November (Thanksgiving) was second among the top 3, with rose placing third. Seventeen states had rose chosen as their No. 3 candle scent. On Saturday, Candle Day is celebrating its 10-year anniversary. The day was launched by Bath and Body Works in 2013.
