Delta Tops List in Massachusetts

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation (March 2022), Boston is the No. 2 top domestic market in the country with 3.4 million passengers (13.2% market share). New York is No. 1 with 4.67 million passengers (18.12%).

There are five main commercial airports in the Commonwealth: Boston's Logan International Airport, Hyannis Cape Cod Gateway Airport, Nantucket Memorial Airport, Martha's Vineyard Airport and Worcester Regional Airport.

Delta Air Lines tops the list among Massachusetts travelers with an interest over time score of 87, operating out of two Massachusetts airports — Boston Logan International and Worcester Regional. In 2022, Delta added five new routes out of Boston, adding about 3,800 more seats. Currently, Delta operates up to 160 daily nonstop flights to 55 destinations out of Logan.

American Airlines (59) placed second on the list and operates also out of Boston and Worcester. American has 23 routes out of Boston with 72% of their flights on-time according to americanairportguide.com.

Boston-based Spirit Airlines (44) rounds out the top three and flies only out of Boston's Logan International. This spring, Spirit will introduce 10 daily flights departing from Logan Airport, some to new destinations including Norfolk, Virginia; Charleston, South Carolina; and Houston. It will also resume a daily flight to Dallas. In addition, extra flights will be introduced on current routes to Orlando, Miami, Fort Myers, Tampa, Myrtle Beach and San Juan.

With the additional route and flights, Spirit Airlines will have a total of 14 nonstop destinations and 25 daily departures from Boston.
Newcomer Breeze Airways (33), which started in 2021, is fourth on the list and actually has no flights out of the Commonwealth. Breeze flies out of nearby Hartford, Providence and Islip, N.Y.

JetBlue Airways (29) rounds out the top five and operates out of the most airports (five) in Massachusetts. With their focus out of Boston Logan, JetBlue also operates out of Worcester Regional and three seasonal locations in Hyannis Barnstable Municipal Airport, Martha's Vineyard Airport and Nantucket Memorial.
